Transitions can be surprisingly difficult: work to home, worry to rest, one responsibility to the next. A small creative practice can mark the boundary without asking you to produce, perform, or share anything.

Set up less than you think

Choose one page, two or three colors, and a comfortable place. Put your phone out of reach if you can. Ten quiet minutes are enough, and stopping halfway is allowed.

Color from the centre outward

  1. Look at the pattern before choosing a color.
  2. Begin with the shape your eye returns to.
  3. Repeat a color where it feels pleasing—not where a rule says it belongs.
  4. When your attention wanders, notice the next line and continue.
  5. Stop when the time feels complete, even if the page is not.
A permission worth keeping:
The page does not have to be perfect, finished, or shown to anyone.

Make the ritual yours

Some days you may want detailed patterns; on others, broad simple shapes. You can color alone, beside a child, with a friend, or while listening to music. The value is in giving your attention a different texture for a little while.

This practice is for everyday wellbeing, not a replacement for professional mental-health care. If stress is persistent or overwhelming, reaching out to a qualified professional or someone you trust is a strong next step.
